Changelog
What has changed, and when. Written by hand, so it lists what is different for you rather than everything that was committed.
Pre-launch
Everything below landed while Studio was still private. It is listed as one entry rather than pretending to a release history it did not have.
- NewPersonas — saved instructions with an optional model each, applied from the composer. Six built in, and you can write your own at /personas.
- NewA context bar under every chat showing the persona, goal, attached documents and which key is paying, each one a shortcut into the setting behind it.
- NewWeb search. The model can search and open pages when it needs something current, with the sources listed in the transcript as links you can follow.
- NewResearch mode — a slower, more expensive turn that decomposes a question, runs several searches, reads the primary sources and writes up what it found with citations.
- NewAttachments. Drag in, paste or pick an image or document. If the model you chose cannot see images, another model reads it for you — and says so, with what it cost.
- NewResearch mode in Studio Code: search the web, write the findings to docs/research/, and turn them into a plan. It has no tool that can change your code.
- NewAsk mode in Studio Code — for the middle of a task, when you need to know where a setting lives or what a value should be. It reads your project and answers, and it is the only mode that cannot change your plan as well as your code, so stopping to ask never costs you your place in the work.
- NewA command palette on ⌘K, over chats, projects, personas and every settings page.
- NewLight, dark and follow-the-system, remembered per browser.
- NewA three-step welcome flow that sets a starting persona, offers to connect your own key, and takes a first document.
- ChangedStudio Code's header lost five buttons to a rail down the right edge, and gained a one-time card explaining what Research, Plan and Build actually do.
- ChangedPlainer words throughout: “devbox” is now “workspace”, and “Chat instructions” is now “How this chat thinks”.
- FixedLight-mode muted text was under the contrast floor at the sizes it is mostly used at.
